I am a self-taught London based live painter, usually found next to the stage painting at live performances. Live painting is a significant strand of my community-based practice.

All of my live paintings are created live during performances at music venues. They serve as documentations - of a scene, a time, a culture, another art form - the journey of a concert. They are improvisational and intuitive in nature. Process and performance come together in the creation of the paintings, where completion is dictated by the last note of music played.

These paintings are my response to the musicians, their music and the live environment: the crowd, atmosphere, lighting, space.. But they also reflect how my day was, my journey there, the conversations I’ve had, tools I forgot to bring. The painting becomes a site where I embrace accidents, tension and rawness as a fundamental part of liveness and life.

Out of context of a live music venue, the pieces - removed from their spiritual homes - may be seen in a different light. I hope audiences/viewers find in them a sense of joy - as fragments which document the blurry glimpse of some collective experience which occurred some time, some place.
